The set for this musical featured a two-story structure with welded, steel staircases and railings. This was an opportunity to teach students in the shop about the process of construction using steel tubing. Varied painting techniques were used in the finishing of the set, furthering our students' exposure to professional stagecraft.

Review of the Scenic and Lighting Designs:

“The versatile urban terrain Dan designed served the multiple locations required for the production and created a comfortable home for the ‘bohemians’ who live there. The gritty, graffiti and leaflet covered platforms and industrial stairs captured the essence of the lower east side of NYC in the 1990’s without the burden of being too specific… Perhaps more impressive and challenging was his work as lighting designer. As mentioned, this is a big, sprawling production that pushes the limits of the Farmer stage and its limited lighting inventory. Dan did a good job of covering the space, sculpting specific moments and punching up big production numbers with light. His simple use of Christmas lights on railings helped transition from industrial to festive when needed. Doing all this with what appears to be an inventory of conventional fixtures is commendable.”
